Welcome to the White Cross

Richmond’s best riverside pub, famous for our great ales, home cooked seasonal British food & best place to watch the rugby. Whether it’s lunch on the Thames (or sometimes in it), no visit to Richmond is complete without a visit to “The Cross.” We are Richmond's best dog friendly pub; muddy paws and muddy boots are always welcome with us.

Food & Drink

Our kitchen proudly serves the very best of British food from lunch through to dinner every day of the week. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely lunch, a hearty date night dinner or beers with your nearest and dearest right on the banks of the Thames, we have something for everyone.

Richmond's favourite Sunday Roast

Wind down the week with a bang: a chill day for you, and a let’s-go-all-out feast from us. Our belt-loosening roasts boast tender-slow-cooked meats, towering double egg Yorkies, and rich-as-it-gets proper pub gravy, along with dig-in-and-share sides and a pudding that’s sweet-as-a-hug, all best paired with a better-have-another pint by the fire for the perfect Sunday.

Autumn Internationals

Get ready—the full-throttle, heart-racing Autumn Internationals are here, with the action firing up at this November. We’re going all out at our rugby-mad pub, where every bone-crunching tackle and rapid-fire pass will be live on our screens, indoors and out (rain or shine, we’re here for it).

Christmas on the river

The fairy lights are sparkling, the heaters are on, and the bubbly’s chilling—because, let’s face it, it’s not just the festive spirit that’s warming up this time of year! Whether you’re ready to pop bottles with your team or winding down after a whirlwind of deadlines, we’ve got the perfect spot for your Christmas party. It’s officially that need-a-VAT-receipt, expense-account-ready time of year.

Guinness Six Nations 2025

Rugby is a passion-fuelled, game-day staple for us (we eat, drink, and breathe it), which is why we’re celebrated for delivering a stadium-style, energy-packed vibe and proudly holding the title of unmissable, match-watching destination in Richmond. We are the place to be to catch the action live on our screens.

Welcome to the best riverside pub in Richmond

Serving Young’s fine ales since 1869 and rebuilt in 1780, The White Cross is not just a pub, but a richly-rooted, heart-of-the-community landmark (and a local treasure, if we may say so). Nestled on the banks of the Thames, we have stood the test of time (and water!), offering the best spot to soak in those famous, golden-hued riverside sunsets.

No visit to Richmond is complete without a stop at our place aka ‘the pub that floods’ – where the Thames has been lapping at our door since 1780. And if the river decides to flood, just remember, wellies were only invented in 1790, so we’ve been dealing with high water long before wellies were even a thing.

Why not book your Christmas party at our riverside gem, where you can enjoy glorious views complimented by a roaring-crackling coal fire. Whether you’re hankering for a belt-loosening Christmas lunch (trust us, you’ll be eyeing up your seat neighbours dish!) or a jolly, bottle-popping party, a Christmas party at ours will have you saying, “ho-ho-holy moly, that was good.”

Simon and the team cannot wait to welcome you.

Autumn Internationals

Get ready – he full-throttle, heart-racing Autumn Internationals are here, with the action firing up this November. We’re going all out at our rugby-mad pub, where every bone-crunching tackle and rapid-fire pass will be live on our screens, indoors and out (rain or shine, we’re here for it). Seats are going fast, so why not go the extra mile and pre-order one of our ice-bucket-ready beer packages? That way, chilled bottles will be at your table from the get-go—no queues (or mad halftime sprints) required!

Christmas on the Thames

Why not host your Christmas bash at ours, where sweeping views meet the warmth of a toasty, fire-crackling corner (because it’s that get-comfy-and-toast-the-season time of year). Imagine sipping spiced mulled wine and hot toddies while your mates’ cringe-worthy jokes float through the air – tis the season for it after all.

Whether you’re craving a feast-worthy Christmas lunch or a bottle-popping evening, our flavour-packed, belt-stretching three-course meals will leave you saying, “Oh, wow, that hit the spot!” We’re ready for festive banter, cheesy jokes, and all the holiday cheer. Here’s to ugly sweater season!

Rugby is a passion-fuelled, game-day staple for us (we eat, drink, and breathe it), which is why we’re celebrated for delivering a stadium-style, energy-packed vibe and proudly holding the title of unmissable, match-watching destination in Richmond for all rugby fans looking to catch the action.

This January, the Six Nations brings thrill-filled, heart-thumping action back to our screens, ready to outdo last year’s excitement. Supporting your team is adrenaline-boosting, thirst-making business (we get it), so our bar is stocked with ice-cold, expertly-poured craft lagers, authentic, timeless real ales, and a variety of cocktail-perfect, post-match tipples.

Terrace Drinks

The cosy-cuddle-up months are finally upon us (sweater weather, anyone?), and it’s officially time to head down to your favourite riverside local, aka us FYI – where the sunsets are still officially the best in Richmond. When that glorious autumn sun beams (in that crisp-but-golden way), there’s simply no better place to be. We will always be Richmond’s go-to for high tides and high vibes (because, why not both?). Our fully-stocked, open-air bar is ready and waiting (and so are we!), so throw on those cosy-chunky knits, splash on over, and soak up all the autumn magic Richmond has to offer.

Sunday Roasts

Every Sunday, we dish up the most mouthwatering, roast-perfect plates in Richmond, packed with all the trimmings (because Sundays are serious business). Think crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside roast potatoes, sky-high double egg Yorkies, and lashings of rich, can’t-get-enough gravy (the kind you’ll be dreaming about later). End with a we-must-do-this-more-often pint next to our toasty warm fire, well you’ll have the most perfect Sunday ever!
